People have had problems of getting their clothes easily looking old in a matter of months and that is mostly due to wrong practices being made. There are actually a few methods you can use to make sure that this doesn’t happen.
First, you should use a front-loading washer. This is because top loading have an agitator in the middles that pulls your clothing clockwise and then counterclockwise every cycle. This produces a lot of lint and is hard on the fabric. Front-loading washers are gentle as they tumble the clothes throughout every cycle that produces less damage and lint. They also use less water and less detergent so they spin faster and making clothes much drier at the end. You can also try turning clothes inside-out when you wash them. It reduces wear and tear on the side of the fabric that goes on the front and making the side that touches much more cleaner.
Don’t ever use fabric softener when you do laundry. They have the unexpected effect that can soften the fabrics through chemical means. They can also give you sudden full-body allergies. They will become stiffer like new clothes but it is well worth it. Also, don’t ever use chlorine bleach. Bleach can fade colors and harm the environment at the same time. Never use hot water if possible aside from the two mentioned. Hot water is harsh on the fabrics and it can set most stains. It also melts synthetic fabrics like nylon as well as polyester because it wraps their weaves. Use cold or warm water instead.
Lastly, try to do air-drying if you can do it at home. Most of the time, clothes dryers would beat into your clothes lint and at the same time cost you a lot of energy in your electricity. To save on both, you air-dry your clothes to make sure they look new. If it is not practical for you, use a twist adjustable-tension shower curtain rod and add some rubber leg tips on both ends as an alternative. Hang them at least 6 to 8 ours and better if you dry them under the sun. All of these are great methods to doing your laundry while making sure you clothes still retain the quality they have since they were first bought. Try them out now.
